Friday 04.June 2004, 8pm-open end
PAVILLON VOLKSGARTEN, 1010 Vienna
Bubblin Over, monthly Fabrique Records summer
sessions
Free entry!
26.05.2004
The summer season scorches along with Fabrique Records
Bubblin Over sessions at the Pavillon Volksgarten.
Fabrique Records will bring you the finest blend of Broken
Beats, Soulful House, Hip Hop, Funk, Jazz and other good
time grooves on the first Friday of every month.
On the hub, resident UNCLE L (Fabrique Rec) and very
special guests.
Uncle L’s choice for good music already took him to the
decks of some of UK’s finest venues and events such as
London Hip Hop festival in 2001, Cargo, Herbal,
Marketplace, Medicine, Aka Bar (the End), Cross Bar (Ex
Blue Note), Liquid Lounge (Scotland) to name a few.
In 2001 he earned a weekly residency for “London’s best Hip
Hop party in town” (Evening Standard) Bullitt at the ace
Dogstar in Brixton, alongside regulars Andy Smith
(Portishead) Vadim (Ninja Tune) and Primecuts (Scratch
Perverts).
Joining him in June is SIRE SONIC from London who drops by
to give us his inimitable set of West London’s Broken Beat,
Funk and Electro-House. Since 2002 he has developed a
working relationship with Fabrique Records and was
hugely inspired by the evolving sound of the Austrian
imprint.
Chris Wheeler enjoys his DJ residency at the 333 club in
East London, Djing to a packed audience in the ‘Mother’
every two weeks. Wheeler’s approach to music is highly
individual which is shown by his current club night,
Heritage.
This event at one of London's most outstanding venues,
Cargo, is about showcasing the latest mix of live music and
club representations, bringing together cutting edge
artists from different factions (Producers, DJs, Composers,
String Quintets, VJs, Big Bands) and making the club
environment the link between opposing music scenes.
Heritage is already becoming respected for its unique
style, with artists like Joseph Malik (Compost), Tutto
Matto (Tummy Touch), Alex Phountzi (Bugz in the Attic), Mr
Thing (DMC Champion/Scratch Perverts), Vincent (Good
Looking/Cookin), Dr Rubberfunk, Ben Wilcox (Sirus, This!)
all supporting the Heritage ethos. Live bands like
Alice
Russell (Tru-Thoughts), SHUX, Jade Fox (Jazz Cafe),
Shuffle, Vincent Trio (Cookin), The Nu Funk Family, Mr
Guder (GPS), or even a string quintet destroy the
boundaries of dance acceptability whilst in the foyer you
might hear the harpist Rhodri Davis (Cinematic
Orchestra-Ninja Tune) turning club convention on its
head.
Chris Wheeler has worked as assistant to the legendary
sound designer John Whiting, and acts as an independent
session producer for various record labels. He now runs his
own digital production studio above the infamous 333
club in London, where he composes, records and mixes a wide
variety of music, from beat-based sounds of the club to
highly intricate electro-acoustic works. He also runs the
listings publication for the venue, which publishes
20,000 copies of cutting edge artwork every six weeks.
Recently he took on the editor’s position for the Broken
Beat singles reviews for the world famous Dance Magazine
“Knowledge”.
